This year: 2010

After nearly one hour, this year, 2010, is going to pass!

This year, I choose to stay at home, instead of going to some sqaures to celebrate the upcoming year. In order to kill my time, now I am going to do self-reflection by recording what I have done since the begining of 2010. Maybe someday that would be one of my important treasures.

In January: I thought I will take the internship in Iran. Because of VISA problems, I stayed at home for whole winter vacation.

In June:

13th: I graduated from Tunghai university.

28th: Due to the invitation from Monica, I went to Matsu, a Taiwan island which most closed to China, with my lovely 0910 teammates and Minje. Five days in Matsu were interesting and awesome, but cost me around 8 thousands dollars. Delicious food & nice accomodation and convenient transporation(Taxi is everywhere, that is why cost us much).

In July: After finishing the course of International Finance and Internation trade, I successfully got the diploma.

In August:
13th: With my family's support and invitation from Amy, I went to Beijing as a CEEDer. That was my first time to take airplane, which made me absolutely excited in the begining. As a CEEDer in RUC, my major job descriptions was promoting AIESEC project to the companies in Beijing. Even though I did not find an internship at all, I was really satisfied by the whole 2 month CEEDer. In September, Boris finally came to Beijing after his trip to Shinjang. Forbiden city and the Great Wall were with Boris.

My first experience of taking 747 airplane!

In Forbbiden City, with the crowd!
In Octorber:
14th: I went back to Taiwan and finally saw my family. After 2 months in Beijing, I really missed them and food here in Taiwan.

In November:
6th: I got a job offer from Summit English institution as an after-school teacher.
13th: My cousin's wedding!

In my cousin's wedding, with my cousins and nephews!

Now, I am heading for 2011 with confidence!

My family: My mom

She is my mother and in the same style to her son someday.
Once upon a time, my mother wore one of my jackets. In fact, what she wore that day was totally like me. Blue pants and green jacket are what I usually wore most. I do not have much money and spend much money on my clothing(usually on food :P), so quite often I am in the same clothes after few days.

I have had this green jacket for many years since I was a senior high student. In order to being tank, jackets are always with me while I going  outside in day. As a result, my friends get used to see me in this green jacket.

This jacket, as I know, was bought in NET. It's a low price. To my much delight, despite of the low price, I don't see many people wear this many times(less than five times :D). I am almost not afraid of bumping into a one in the same jaket with me! hehe

An Accurate Description of Taiwan's Journalist!

Basically, I found this description on a word book, which contains most common used words in TIME magazine. Every word has its meaning and KK(teach how to pronounce), and there is always a sence following the word to show the usage of the word.

"Reporters now regularly stroll the Internet for stories in the same way they used to prowl the corridors of City Hall. The tradecraft is a little different, but journalists are learning fast!"

Is it the same situation at your country!?

You may not believe in this thing

He, who was accued of sex scandal, is elected to councilor of Kaoshiung

For this political event, I called it a political soap drama.

Before the election day, there was a magazine which found out some clues about this person to have sex scandal, not only because he is one of cadidates of Kaosiung Counsil, but he is the son of Taiwan's former president. And then, the news came out to public evetually.

During the days to the election, he and his wife strongly regarded this news as a interruption from the other party, which want to make him to lose his reputation. As a result, the campaign that he came up with are all for change people's mind about this news. The last night before the election, he choose to seek support from his grandma, which considered to the important reason that he could be elected to the counsil of Kaoshiung.

According to the result from Taiwan government, he is one of leading counsils who get most votes in the election of Taiwan.

Is it ridiculous? Politics always always come out those which are ridiculous.

First Month for being a TEACHER!

After few days, it will be my first month for being a teacher!

My first job is an after-school teacher. From monday to Friday and 4pm to 8:30pm I work at a English institution, which is located near Tainan Cultural Center, quite closed to my house.

Actually, the main reason that I work there is that the owner of the institution provides me a course of ILTES before I start to work everyday, which makes me improve English proficiency at the same time.

Many people are confused and always ask me that why I choose to work there even though they regard "teacher" as a nice job(Being a teacher is one of olders' favorite job as I know in Taiwan). They, in fact, always try to ask me to have a full time job. I know this is not the job for living, but before i find the suitable job, I rather stay here.

I had been tired of the days that I had nothing to do and stayed at home a day long since I came back from Beijing to the day that i started to work in this institutionm, which took me more than a month, basically.

A wedding is around corner!

This weekend is the wedding of my cousin(so happy).

This photo was taken by my older cousin! In the middle was my cousin
and her husband.

My cousin is 4 years older than me. Since she graduated from senior high school, she has started to work. For me, she is a mature girl.

The man she gonna marry is the one introduced by one of my father's friends, who is much older than her(around 6-7 years). He comes from Minsyong, a town in Chiayi county, and works in Chimei, which is located in my hometown, Tainan. At my first time to see him from a photo of my sister, i was tollay surprised and hard to believe that my cousin is his girlfriend and is going to marry him! Maybe, there is something I can not find out from the outside( I did not interact with him). And that is the reason my cousin decides to marry him.

In Taiwan custom, a normal wedding process is that there are two wedding banquets for both of family. One is for the husband side family and relatives, and another is for wife side. Most of wedding are usually arranged on the weekend, enabling guests are availble to attend wedding banquet. For the husband side, one more special thing is that the previous day before wedding banquet the family of the husband needs to thank the master of God for a nice marriage with some fruit and cookies, which is quite important to the marriage in Taiwan custom.

Wedding banquet is a small part of Taiwan traditional wedding, and there are many aspects before and after wedding banquet. You may google them on the internet. Basically, in Taiwan tradition custom you will find it is not easy to marry a guy/ woman in Taiwan(if you wanna... hehe).

Local Breakfast of Tainan

Today I woke up at 6:30am, and went to have breakfast with my family. What we ate was the local breakfast of Tainan. You may see it in all cities of Taiwan, but actually it is common at southern Taiwan. Instead of fried bread stick and boiled dumpling(famous traditional Chinese food), people in Tainan get used to have braised pork rice, rice noodles and fish ball soup as their first meal in a day.

Without the firnished dining space as you see the picture below, both of the restaurants are quite famous in Tainan city. One is called Baocheng, another is Atang. They are closed to each other, but what they provide are totally different.

It is the restaurant providing sheep dishes.
Traditional Pure Sheep soup with soy sause

Adopted from this blog: http://chim1237.pixnet.net/blog/post/3288188

This one providing the seafood dishes and rice with soup.

As the number of western breakfast store increases in Taiwan and the western lifestyle invades this small island, more and more teenagers don't have Taiwan traditional breakfast(like sth introduced above) and they prefer hamburger and fried chicken. Maybe, next time while visiting Tainan, the historical city of Taiwan, you may spend some time on this Tainan Breakfast!

【Fam.】It's a Raining Day

Now is raining....

Since I woke up in the morning, the weather has seemed not good.  I did not go out, instead I stayed at home for a whole day.

Because I don't get a job, I suppose to stay at home and spend less money on everything. Any expenses will be the reason my mom gets angry. Take recent situtation happened few days ago as an example, I bought my favorite green tea in family market in order to get some bonus from the AD campign. While returning to home, my mom got angry at my drink. She thought I stayed at home and drank tea all the day, which cost me much. therefore I should drink less, in her opinion....

I didn't think it is reasonable, kinda ridiculous. After that moment, I decided the job maybe should not be located in Tainan...

【Family】A nice Sunday!

At mountain 308. Left to Right: my sister, mom, and dad.

Today, I had a good time with my family. As my father promised few days ago, we successfully had dinner in the restaurant, which one of programs introduced on the TV.

Nearly 5pm my father came back from my uncle's home. We got ready to restaurant after I took a shower and my parents put on some jakets. Compared to previous experience, this time we drove to Kaosiung on Taiwan Line19,  which took us less time than we expected, around 50 minutes! On the way to the restaurant, my father thought of the period during he finished a part of his military service in Kinmen and started another part at Mituo, a small town in Kaosiung. He did not mention anything about the life in this small town at all, but some pieces of the life may resonate in his mind at that moment.

After arriving at the restaurant, we spent much time on waiting. Small restaurant was filled with briliantly excited people. The scene, no more room for one more table, revealed that the restaurant is so popular. We ordered a combination of meals, including meat, dumpling and some cakes and small dishes.

In fact, while going back to home, we all thought the restaurant is not worthy to spend over two hours on transportation and waiting, despite its popularity on the internet. However, since my university is in Taichung and after graduation i went to Beijing for internship, there are few chances that we could dine outside together. So, In my opinion, the time we got together and had a small talk was really good. I really treasure this time.

【Family】My Dad!

(This photo was taken 4 years ago)

After the internship in Bejing, I have stayed in Tainan, my home town, for few days. And the thing I am going to say happened in our daily ordinary family conversation.

My dad, over 50 years old, works in a steel factory, which established by my uncle.

Recently, My dad always needs to work until 9 pm from 8 am, which makes him so tired after a day long work. As a result, he likes to spend the rest of his day time watching TV after his work. Today, and yesterday he went upstairs, asking my sister google some restaurants which some TV programs introduce on the show(many programs do nowaday). He found it may be a nice restaurant, and asked us whether we are willing to have dinner on this Sunday.

"Yes, we are willing, of course!" waving both of my hands.

Next step!

I suppose to think about my next step now!

My life in Beijing still has less one month because the my departure was originally booked at 13th October. Before i arrive at Beijing, I thought i could have interview with the company and then be matched with the company, starting my journey in Beijing for the following month or year. However, after one month from i arrived at Beijing, I still do nothing but run the project called "NCST".

The next step of mine divides into two parts, one part is that if i could be matched in these days, I will stay in Beijing for a long time, for example 1yr or 1.5yr. Another is that I could not be matched, I am going back my home instead. What i am thinking while i return to my home is to find a job and get some language course, no matter for English or Spanish. I would like to work hard for my next trip or the internship.

These are my plans I am thinking. If there is nothing happen in the future, things go in this way. Anyway, all decisions are made by myself, all responsibility are taken by myself.

【9/18】 in the office

Now I am still in Beijing.

After raining, today is cooler than the previous days, which makes me think of the winter in Taiwan. But it is not the coldest day in Beijing.

I have been here for over a month and quite got familiar with the life here, for example: food, weather, and traffic. In fact, the things impressed me a lot while arriving at Beijing.

Smooth skies: The world's best airlines

There is that all-too-familiar sinking feeling that accompanies hunkering down for a fourteen hour flight with a cramped seat, no personal screen and a tetchy flight attendant in complete control of your comfort. Though some flights, planes and crews, are inevitably better than others – and even two flights with the same airline can vary wildly in terms of enjoyment – there are certain airlines whose business cabins, and even economy seats, are overall nonpareil. Fly one of the following and you will find there is still luxury (and leg-room) to be had in today’s crowded skies.

Singapore Airlines (www.singaporeair.com)

While economy, business and first all have their perks on this most efficient and professional of carriers, the real draw with Singapore are the suites on board their ten A380 aeroplanes. These include leather armchair-style seats, a separate bed, a full-length wardrobe, and dining table. And it does not stop there: tableware and bedding are Givenchy-designed, toiletries are Ferragamo, and your vintage Bordeaux is served in crystal. What better way since the heyday of the airship - when no self-respecting flight crossed the Atlantic without a concert pianist - is there to fly?

Asiana Airlines (www.flyasiana.com)

Smiling crews and lots of space between seats characterise Asiana flights, most of which fly via Seoul's Incheon airport. Business travellers can expect full flat-bed seats, Bulgari travel kits, traditional Korean cuisine and Rainforest Alliance-certified coffee, while first class passengers can request pyjamas and everyone can avail, for a fee, of airborne SMS and email services. Keep hold of your "magic boarding pass", regardless of your travel class, for discounts on entertainment, transport, restaurants and attractions in Seoul, Guangzho, Osaka and Singapore.

 Qatar Airways (www.qatarairways.com)

It is hard to find an under-par Qatar Airways business flight. Business cabins are calm and quiet, almond milk, dates and other Qatari delicacies are provided as you find your seat, and dining is fine, with starched napkins, a good wine list, and a copious post-dinner cheese plate. Bear in mind, though, that alcohol is restricted on some flights during the holy month of Ramadan, so you might not get that nice mellow red with your meal. Qatar's hub, at Doha, offers a spacious separate Premium Terminal for business and first class passengers, with complimentary meals, drinks, video games, a full-service spa, and small, comfy bedrooms for catching 40-winks en route.

Malaysia Airlines (www.malaysiaairlines.com)

Seats are comfortable and service generally smooth on flights with Malaysia, which pass through its Kuala Lumpur hub. If you are flying first or business class, dine on fresh salad leaves and incredible blue cheese from the Australian Tarago River Cheese Company all served on Wedgewood china, and wash it down after dinner with a hot cup of Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee.

 Cathay Pacific (www.cathaypacific.com)

Almost everyone seems to love Cathay Pacific for its smooth service and fantastic Hong Kong hub, but with an 81-inch-long first class bed, flat beds in business class, and shell seats in economy (meaning that even if the person in front of you reclines, their chair-back does not), Cathay's a particularly comfortable option for those who value their personal space. First class passengers can enjoy freshly-fried eggs with their Krug Grand Cuvée champagne; galleys are equipped with snacks for everyone - with options ranging from chocolate bars to instant noodles - for when the munchies strike.

Kingfisher Airlines (www.flykingfisher.com)

Kingfisher, the world's only Skytrax Five Star-ranked domestic airline (now also with flights to and from London, Dubai, Hong, Bangkok, Kathmandu and Singapore) makes life easy for those who do not have time to take India's scenic, but time-consuming trains. Fly Mumbai to Goa - a flight of less than an hour - and even in economy class you will be served a full hot meal and watch live satellite TV. For those requiring another notch up when it comes to service, Kingfisher Elite offers private jets (on which you can even take a mid-air shower), for charter for business....or, indeed, pleasure. And, if you are hoping to upgrade without the price tag, check Optiontown's Upgrade Travel Option (www.optiontown.com), which allows you to upgrade on Kingfisher flights, if seats are available, for a nominal price.

Reunion with my teammates!

In this weekend, I took bus to Taipei for a reunion with my teammates"0809AIESEC Taiwan VPICX". Except for Justin, YZLC VPICX, everyone attended this reunion, which gonna be first time that so many ICXers participate.

I had a good time. Although I try to follow the dress code that every participant need to wear the clothe you will wear while going to beach, still i was choosed to be punished. The punishment that I got was I need to beat a watermelon after going through a swimming pool with someone's direction which makes everyone except for me burst into laughter!

Everyone in this reunion has his/her plan, earning a mater degree and having a internship/ job, for example, Alan and Darren plan to get the mater degree in Tsinghua and Chengkung University respectively. And KK now is having an internship in one of her alumni's company. BenQ  is going to do the military service after his trip to China.

To be honest, I am really happy to see everyone has his/her personal direction since we need to be responsible for ourselve after graduating from university. Life keeps going, so we need to keep going ahead.

Professor Hsu

I am kinda afraid of this day, the first day after a quiz!

Today, as usual in this summer vacation, I went to classes at 10 o'clock for International finance. Because of Friday, all faculties and staff of school did not work.  It seems that the professor forgot today was Friday, and came to the classroom so late. We had waited for him for 20 miutes.  While opening the door of classroom, he tried to let us know there was a place for us to take a rest, if the door was not open before he came to school.

A student opened the door with the key without noticing the professor go to show us the place, some guys follow the professor and the rest went to the class.

Suddenly when the professor came back to the classroom seeing every student were ready to take course. He became angry, asked everyone "why didn't you go with but sit here?" on the stage. A moment later he went out to his office. No one knew what he were doing during the period. The atmosphere of the room is totally FREEZING...

Boeing: Dreamliner Passes 1,000 Hours of Flying

June 17, 2010  |  Milestones
EVERETT, Wash., June 17, 2010 – The Boeing  787 Dreamliner flight test fleet passed 1,000 hours of testing yesterday. The program estimates that it is about 40 percent through the test conditions required to certify the first version of the all-new jetliner.

“More work remains but we are seeing excellent progress in flight test,” said Scott Fancher, vice president and general manager of the 787 program for Boeing Commercial Airplanes. “Even more important than the hours we’ve logged are the test conditions we have completed. The team is being very efficient in getting the data we need.

“It’s also important to note that we are making solid progress on the ground testing required on the flight test fleet as well,” Fancher said.

It started to rain!

Now in Taichung is raining!
It has been a long time since it rained last time!

I definitely miss you, Miss Raining.

High Price!

That is a high price!

Today, I had dinner with Benson, Helen and Monica, because Monica needed to come back Taichung for searching dorms and the couses for ILETS. During meal, our topics were all about dorm, English courses, and our future plan except for AIESEC. Surprisingly, the institution in Taichung that many people recommend costs too much: 6 months for ILETS course nearly NTD60000, that includes simulation-test, and the related materials.

Honestly, I know that sitution that it is not cheap, but i did not know that it is that high, almost 2-3 times average slarary which a graduate gets in his/her first job in Taiwan. Price kills everyone's willingness especially for those who are poor. They do not have money on living and food, why do they want to spend this amount of money on this kind English courses? It's obvious.

As a result, It is said that in our future society, the rich will be much richer, and the poor will be much poor. The rich knows how to invest in himself/herself, however the poor does not.

Now is the time to study English, maybe it enables me save some money!

There is still a half way!

Today is July 14.

As mentioned before, it is a must that I need to take some classes in July if i want to graduate in this semester. To be honest, I can do nothing but start a month every monday-friday journey with some of my classmate. Besides, I try to find something to do after July, no matter AIESEC internship, other internship, or a job!

However, it is little out of my control now that i can not find suitable one, even a company called me to have an interview with for a part-time job. After consideration, I decide not to take the internview due to the JDs of the job.

After 16 days, it gonna be August. I don't want to do the stupid thing like winter vacation. All  I need is to making more efforts to search any posibilities.

Night Market of Fengyuan

Today I went to the night market in Fengyuan, a town in Taichung county with Winne and Peter. Since transition night on June 5, I have not seen them. I was invited few hours ago before we went there. This is my forth or fifth time to walk around this night market, but my first time to take train to Fengyuan.

After arriving the night market, we were going to eat delicacies as planned. First, we ate the 東山鴨頭, which fascinated me last time. Then, we walked around the night market to see how big it is. Afterward, we went back to main street, and tried to eat the famous noodles which called 排骨酥麵. Even though, I have eaten this several times and cost me much, this is still one of my favorites in this night market.

At last, we took train back to Taichung city around 6:30pm. Maybe this gonna be my last time to visit this night market. kinda touching.

Anyway, it was a good trip :D

Life remains constant!

Life remains constant!

From the begining of July, every day I have to go to 2 classes from 10am-12am and 2pm-5pm respectively. In the day of 30℃-34℃, it is really COOL that I sit in the class with air-conditions.

After classes, the night is so long. The things that i always to do are having dinner in front of computer, watching cartoon"两津勘吉"(Ryoutsu Kankichi), logging in facebook and reading some articles on the Internet. They are really relaxing but quite boring if i do every night.

This kind of day that i go to class and after classes spend the rest of time in dorm must remain to the end of July. From August, I am gonna have different life from now.

A relaxing morning

Today, i woke up at 10:30am, 2 hours later than those day that i need to go school. I did nothing but checked mail box, logged in facebook! After that, i took a shower in this high temperature day. It is really a relaxing morning.

Now is the time to think where my lunch is :P

Back to Tainan!

Today, I came back to Tainan, my hometown!

Today, after the statistics exam, I came back to Tainan as planned. Since last time, totally 2 month has passed. In this two months, I went through my graduation exam, commencement, and the mother's day. This time was my first time that I came back to Tainan for a long period of time.

During dinner time, my mom likes to say some gossips to dad, this time she does, also; From this"sweet" interaction, I found my dad and mom are still sweet, I feel so happy to see that. To be honest, I really don't like the past situations they are mad at each other! Instead, the situation of today's dinner is quite well, though they were talking gossips about their friends. Feel sorry for their friend lol.

the last classes of statistics

Today, to much my delight, I finished the last classes of statistics. The memory of this course will be treasure in my mind.

This semester,  this course is my third time to take it. The first and second time was in my sophomore and junior respectively. The same book and the same professor exist. But this time, I am going to graduate, and i have different mind to take this instead.

"I don't know i can pass this time, but i am forced to" I said firmly to the professor, while professor came unexpectly to ask me whether i can overcome this time.

I like the professor. He is like our grandfather who has serious appearance, but in his classes, he treat us like hir son and his daughtter. As i know he have been in our department for over 20 years, and is going to retire next semester.

Everytime when he can not catch up his teaching schedule(he always need to finish teaching the textbook published long time ago with red-white cover.), he will make extra effort to find some time, such as Saturday and Sunday, to teach us.

Regarding his attitude to the student and the attitude of being a teacher, he really fascinates me. After my graduation, he is going to be one of professors who I am going to miss absolutely.
